Kingsford is a suburb in south-eastern Sydney, situated in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 7 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district. It is mainly a residential area, situated directly south of the University of New South Wales. The area was once known as South Kensington and was it was given its present name in honor of Australian aviator Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. The first people to settle in the area were Greeks who came to Kingsford on 1940, from the island of Castellorizo.
